At the penguin house at the Central Park Zoo, two penguins named Roy and Silo were a little bit different from the others. But their desire for a family was the same. And with the help of a kindly zookeeper, Roy and Silo got the chance to welcome a baby penguin of their very own. Tango iritsita, hiru dira” New York-eko Central Park-eko zooko pinguino papozuri bikote berezi baten egiazko historia da; Rob Gramzay-k –haien kabian arrautza bat jarriz– kume bat izateko aukera eman zien, harri bat alferrik txitatzen ari zirela ohartu eta gero. Horrela jaio zen Tango, bi aita izan zituen lehen pinguinoa. Justin Richardson eta Peter Parnell egileen lehen haur-liburua oso arrakastatsua izan zen, eta hainbat sari jaso ditu argitaratu zenetik, 2005ean. Hala ere, alderdi kontserbadoreek gaitzetsia ere izan da, familia-eredu berrien aurkakoak baitira.Istorioan informazio-testua eta narrazioa literarioa uztartzen dira oreka ezin hobean. Ilustrazio adierazgarriek deskribapen-funtzioa betetzen dute, irudi errealisten bidez eta, denboraren joana adierazteko, biñeta-moduko konposizio batzuen bidez.
Like so much children’s literature, the story here, because it occurs in the context of the animal kingdom, is a parable, and so it may prove less threatening to some who might be troubled by its human implications. (But only to people who have forgotten Aesop and La Fontaine!) What matters supremely is that Tango’s story is actually—like Heather’s—the story of a wanted child born to a set of parents who are devoted first to one another and then to him. Penguins, ahem, are black and white.
