The protagonist of this story, "Sarah", (she admits that is not her real name, and never tells her last name) is running from a very abusive past. In a diner at the US/Canadian border, an old woman offers her a meal and a job. Desperate and hungry, she takes both. Working as a maid in a run-down, five-story mansion, Sarah is literally haunted from the start by a previous maid. She attempts to escape, only to be drawn back to the evil entity that destroys young women. The book ended with nothing resolved, obviously to force the reader into buying more books. In my case, this isn't going to work. ( )
