"After The Black Elfstone and The Skaar Invasion comes the next chapter in the Fall of Shannara, a saga more than four decades in the making. The Skaar have arrived in the Four Lands, determined to stop at nothing less than all-out conquest. They badly need a new home, but peaceful coexistence is not a concept they have ever understood. An advance force under the command of the mercurial princess Ajin has already established a foothold, but now the full Skaar army is on the march--and woe betide any who stands in its way. But perhaps the Skaar victory is not quite as much of a foregone conclusion as they all assume. The Druid Drisker Arc has freed both himself and Paranor from their involuntary exile. Drisker's student, Tarsha Kaynin, has been reunited with Dar, chief defender of what is left of the Druid order, and is learning to control her powerful Wishsong magic. If they can only survive Tarsha's brother and the Druid who betrayed Drisker Arc, they might stand a chance of defeating the Skaar. But that is a very big if...as Tarsha's brother now carries the Stiehl--one of the most powerful weapons in all the Four Lands, and is hell bent on taking his revenge on everyone he feels has wronged him"--… (más)

Having been a devoted follower of Terry Brooks for over forty years, “The Stiehl Assassin” is a testament to the enduring allure of the Shannara series. This third installment in The Fall of Shannara saga is a thrilling continuation of a story that has been unfolding for more than four decades. The Skaar invasion brings a fresh sense of urgency and a new layer of complexity to the Four Lands, as we witness the relentless march of conquest and the desperate struggles of those who stand in its path.

Brooks masterfully weaves the fates of Drisker Arc, Tarsha Kaynin, and the enigmatic Stiehl Assassin, creating a narrative that is both familiar and invigorating. The return to the beloved world of Shannara is like reuniting with old friends, each character resonating with the depth and growth that only time can bestow.

“The Stiehl Assassin” is not just a book; it’s a piece of the Shannara legacy. It’s a reminder of the small magics that have kept us spellbound, page after page, book after book. ( )

I grew up on Terry Brooks. This last series has not really wowed me. It's not bad per se, but in the past, he could tell a story in a single book, at most a trilogy. Now entire books are dedicated to plodding along. That's how this book felt. By the end, I didn't feel anything had really happened. It's actually left me wondering if I care enough to finish reading the series. ( )

Great characters, great plot, and a great story with lots of twists and intriguing subplots. A really good read. I am looking forward with much anticipation to the series finale in book 4!! ( )

Savored each page, knowing this will be one of the last Shannara books I ever read. It's a really interesting final series - very different from what Brooks has tried previously, though his trademark pacing and action is here.
It's strange, I almost wish the book was a few hundred pages longer and took its time - his older fantasies felt a bit more epic, but that being said, I also like the breakneck pace of the story.

Colorful characters going on fantastic adventures in airships will always be a blast, but this book didn't feel quite as strong as book 2. Likely setting up for the Last Druid, which I'm going to start ASAP. I can't stop now, can I? ( )
