I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book and I was worried that I wouldn't like it, but the cover is fantastic and the synopsis sounded interesting, so I gave it a shot, and let me tell you - I was NOT disappointed!

I honestly didn't want to stop reading because I wanted to know what was gonna happen next. I wanted so desperately for Alice to be okay and the entire time, my mind was trying to piece together who was responsible for her disappearance. When I found out - I was honestly shook! That plot twist threw me for a serious loop, not that I'm complaining.

As for Brian, I honestly hate it, but that's all I'll say because I don't know what counts as spoilers and what doesn't. I won't say why I hate him, just know that I REALLY hate him.

Now, I'm a sensitive bitch okay, so it doesn't take much for me to cry. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing... anyway, I had to hold back tears at the end of this book and I'm not ashamed to admit that. I really liked the two lead characters, Harriet and Charlotte, which is weird because I usually hate female characters - they annoy me.

These two are strong leads, though, and they really made the story so much better.

I'd definitely recommend this. ( )

Intriguing and unputdownable, this is a psychological suspense thriller. I haven't read anything by this author before and was certainly impressed. It's one of those 'I didn't see that coming' sort of thrillers.

A thriller where a child goes suddenly and inexplicably missing is always emotionally charged, but this tests a friendship, parental love and a mother's unbreakable devotion to her child.

Extremely well crafted and written, it had me matchsticking my eyes late at night and vowing to read more by this talented author.

Whilst fully deserving of five stars, I just can't bring myself to part with them all. I'm keeping one behind because the standard of the writing was completely let down by the shoddy editing. ( )

Her One Mistake by Heidi Perks

Charlotte takes her children along with her friend Harriet's daughter (Alice) to the school fair. The unthinkable happens, Alice goes missing. Charlotte is being questioned, Harriet is distraught, it is a parents worst nightmare. Police continue to question the women, while tensions arise and secrets are slowly revealed.

An original story that moves at a fast pace. Told in alternating voices, past and present brings you into the mind of Charlotte and Harriet. There are plenty of plot twists and intense moments. I was at the edge of my seat. Overall I found Her One Mistake enjoyable and recommend to those who love a great psychological suspense. ( )
