Abbie MacIntyre is living the dream in the picturesque Nova Scotia town she calls home. She is a successful surgeon, is married to a handsome cardiologist, and has a model teenage son who is only months away from going off to college. But then one fateful night, everything changes. When a drunk driver hits her car, Abbie is rushed to the hospital. She survives, but the accident forces unimaginable secrets out into the open and plagues Abbie with nightmares so vivid that she starts to question her grip on reality. Her perfect life begins to crack, and those cracks threaten to shatter her world completely. The search for answers will test her strength in every way--as a wife, a career woman, and a mother--but it may also open the door for Abbie to move forward, beyond anger and heartbreak, to find out what she is truly made of. In learning to heal and trust again, she may just find new hope in the spaces left behind.… (más)

Oh my, but this made for an interesting beach read! Think every soap opera twist that could possibly come over the course of a few dozen chapters, pack it in, and you have poor Abby’s life. There’s a car accident, and Abby is horrified to discover the other driver was her husband… and then the shocks just keep on coming! The pacing in this was mostly good. It was a quick, easy read, and the dog scenes completely made the book. Golden retrievers all the way! Some of the emotional questions could have been explored a bit more deeply, but for an easy, quick summer read, it was a fun escape.

A great book of coming to terms with love and loss and the pain within your self, and the recovery within your self. How people are not always who we think they are, and relationships and families are not always what they appear to be from the outside. A perfect look at the inside of a family that appears to have everything. ( )

Life can change in an instant. This is what happens to Abbie. Happy marriage, loving husband...gone. Career and health...redirected. But, a new day always comes, whether we like it or not. The book starts out fast, with a few twists and turns. Ending is predictable but you are so invested in the characters, you will be routing for it. Characters are likeable, situations fairly realistic. Well written, love the way the situations unfold.

Fast read, great for a summer day or winter night! Can be devoured in one sitting!

After being in a terrible car accident Abbie must fight through blows to the life she thought she once knew. A story of survival - Abbie navigates through new found truths all while being a strong mother. A hard book to review without spoiling, but most definitely worth a read. ( )

Some felt that the story line was too far fetched with husband driving his car and hitting his wife's car . He dies and slowly the ugly truth comes out about his *other* life. Yes, the odds are huge of this happening, but after all this is just a story and it made for an interesting twist. It is a story of moving on with one's life even after being thrown obstacles. ( )
