To understand the monsters in the world, you have to get inside their heads. It's a dangerous place to be, especially when you start to empathize and lose your own sense of morality. But that's never happened to me . . . I've never felt conflicted on any case. Right is right and wrong is wrong. It's simple. Black and white. There's no such thing as a gray area. But fuck this case. I don't even know what side I'm on anymore. I don't understand how this town can continue to function without breaking under the weight of all the lies they've spun and lived. Every time I find a shard of truth, my gut twists, my heart beats faster, and I hate this place a little more. Every time I think I've heard the worst, another truth is dug up from the ashes of more burning lies. Worst of all, I don't even know who to trust anymore. My head is all messed up. I pride myself on being impossible to fool. I'm an expert at knowing when someone is lying to me. I never believed in being blinded by love . . . until Lana. Contains mature themes.… (más)

I'm an expert at knowing when someone is lying to me.
I never believed in being blinded by love...until Lana.

**BE WARNED: Some flashbacks can get intense to readers with a sensitive trigger. Skip the blocks in italics if that's the case.

My review:

OMG!! I am not one to give a 5 star review often; a book really needs to blow me away and make me feel like I have been hit over the head, and let me tell you.... this one did just that!!!!! Words can not fully describe this book. If nothing else, if you aren't loving this series... stick it out through this book!

This book gives you so much more information into what happened back in Delany Grove all those years ago. There is a trigger warning for this book, and take it seriously if it applies to you. I always liked Lana, but after reading this, I felt her anger too.

Not only does Logan learn what happens, he finds out as well! I both love and hate him in this book; emotions so conflicted.

By far the best book in the series. It is so full of action and information that I couldn't even stop to make the review. ( )

My heart feels like it was just ripped out along with Lana's. My heart cries out for the amount of pain she is in right after what Logan did I can understand but hate Logan at the same time. He's a profiler he should know better, but i guess he has always been blinded when it comes to lana. If you've read the series so far then you are completely invested in Lana and Logan and reading what happens to them is completely heartbreaking. Lana is so close to the finish line and this happens, especially with her being on edge as it is. I'm completely shocked by Leonard's sympathy towards her, never saw that coming. Reading this book you will face a flurry of strong emotions. Thank goodness there is already a next one available because I would go out of my ever loving mind waiting for the next book after that ending. I can't wait to see hat my girls think of this one. I love the back story that we finally saw and my god I can not wait to see what comes next. ( )

It's official....I'm sick! I found some Lana's thoughts to be LOL material. I'm loving all of these and getting nothing else done. I'm off to finish with book 5. ( )

"I'm saying, bad shit is in the world, but some of the monsters have morals, where others are pure evil."

To understand the monsters in the world, you have to get inside their heads. It's a dangerous place to be, especially when you start to empathize and lose your own sense of morality. But that's never happened to me... I've never felt conflicted on any case. Right is right and wrong is wrong. It's simple. Black and white. There's no such thing as a gray area. But fuck this case. Alright so this one was a bit harder to read than some of the others simply because we are finally get the information and details about that night. Which means as you can imagine details about what exactly happened that night in the town. Just when you think it can't get worse, it does... it gets so much worse. We learn a lot of details about what led up to the night that Lana has been working to avenge and more about her family. It was really painful to read some of the details in this book so if you are easily triggered or think the topic might be triggering just know this one is more likely to cause that to happen. However, they are brief compared to the rest of the story. I will say Chapter 1 of this book was incredibly painful to read.
We learn more about just how corrupt the town is in this one and why Lana has chosen to make the town her endgame for her revenge. I will admit that this series has been an emotional roller coaster and it's not even over yet. Like I still have one more to go, and I don't know if I can handle it. But I also need to know how this is resolved. Logan and his team have begun to piece together new details about their serial killer and my god does this increase the tension in this book. Basically this book alternates between emotional devastation and nail biting on the edge of your seat. I cannot wait to see how the series ends. ( )
