I liked the plot of The Talebearer quite a lot. The group of friends, which I started referring to as the Scooby Gang midway through, were fun to follow and my only real complaint about the book is that I spent so much time inside all of the POV characters' heads that I got bored and wished there was more action. I didn't keep track but I'd bet that the vast majority of information the reader got was just told to us instead of letting us experience it for ourselves. If there had been more conversations to reveal the same information, I would have stayed engaged a lot more and it would have been at least a 4 star read.

This was my first read by the author, even though I've seen her name for years. I'd read more by her for sure. ( )
