"Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn{u2019}t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he's noticing just how sexy and confident she's become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he's not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good. Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah{u2014}the boy she's crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now{u2014}in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he's become{u2014}every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it's everything Kristina never dared hope for. But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he{u2019}s finally ready to fight for everything."--Back cover.… (más)

For a tough guy, it's hard to admit weakness. Noah is a far cry from the young boy who believed there was goodness in the world. Darkness is threatening to swallow him whole and taint anything he touches. Kristina is his only hope, his deepest regret and his greatest weakness. Her giving heart is both an asset and a weakness. It makes her quick to love, but vulnerable to deep hurt. Her heart has and will always belong to one man and she will stop at nothing to help him step back into the light to accept the healing powers of love. Fighting for Everything is a gritty, seductive, uplifting story. Noah and Kristina immerse themselves in some ugly moments and emerge beautifully for it. Kaye is a beast when it comes to stories of courageous survivors and Fighting for Everything empowers it's way right into the heart ( )

I have been a fan of Laura Kaye's for a while now, I have always enjoyed the grittiness of her writing, and after three mind-blowing series as Hard Ink, Blasphemy, and Raven Riders, I wasn't sure where the direction of her work would be going next, and, would it be a series I would actually enjoy? But clearly, I must have been sleep deprived or something because I clearly underestimated the pure talent of this extraordinary author.

In Fighting for Everything we find Noah, who is a marine vet, struggling with civilian life, after coming home from his last deployment, mind, body, and soul. But he's determined to hide behind a mask of normalcy, but there is one person he could never hide anything from Kristina! But when the girl Noah have been best friends with since they were kids, suddenly changes into someone he desires, how can Noah offer her the world, when he is a shell of a man!

As you read Fighting for Everything, you realize that you are reading more than a simple romance! The book sucks you into the world of PTSD, rage, heartbreak, hitting rock bottom and then rebuilding yourself, and living in your truth. So be warned, this book is not lighthearted fluff, within the first few chapters YOU will be fully invested and will NEED to know the ending.

I will 100% admit I had a hardcore book hangover after finishing Fighting for Everything, but boy it was totally worth it. This book is amazing, it gets inside your soul, and you don't want to say goodbye when the book comes to an end. Fighting for Everything is an amazing first book for this new series, from the get-go you cannot help but fall in love with all the characters, but I will admit I have a soft spot for Mo, and I hope we see a lot more from him.

I give Fighting for Everything 5 stars!

Fighting for Everything is part friends to lovers, part military recovery story! Noah has returned from the Marine Corp a different person-physically and mentally. He has severe physical injuries, extreme PTSD, and on top of that a big case of survivor's guilt. He feels so broken and worthless. Kristina has been his best friend for years, and she is the last person he wants to see him like this. Kristina is a teacher and totally in love with Noah. She is NOT going to let him push her away.

Noah's struggles are the central plot of the story really. His PTSD and injuries are the reason he pushes Kristina away, the reason he is angry, and the reason he feels worthless. While you get a friends to lovers romance, you also get to see a man fight his demons. The veterans fight club he creates is the outlet he needed, but also the outlet other vets needed. It was great to see Noah climb his way out of his depression and carve a new life. Kaye does a beautiful job writing the pain and guilt Noah feels, and also the determination Kristina has to get Noah through this tough time. My biggest struggle was that the story just didn't wow me. I think because I have read so many books it becomes difficult to wow me.

Fighting for Everything sets up the Warrior Fight Club series and I am thrilled to see where Kaye takes it! She writes deep, complex characters with profound emotions.

  • POV: dual 1st

  • Tears: no

  • Trope: veteran, friends to lovers

  • Triggers: Noah has PTSD and his flashbacks and struggles are detailed but not overly exploited.

  • Series/Standalone: stand alone

  • Cliffhanger: no

  • HEA: yes

I love this book so much. Friends to lovers is a story that I find myself drawn to. Laura Kaye tells the story of Kristina and Noah. Best friends growing up with an underlying of attraction until they come together after Noah returns from his deployment injured and feeling broken. The minute Kristina walked into the picnic and sees Noah the sparks flew. The attraction was there and there could be no doubt that something had changed. While they jumped right into exploring the attraction there wasn't an insta-relationship. They fought it, they pushed it away, and they worked hard to figure out how they could come together without losing what was so important to them.

Fighting for Everything is a romance book but it is also the story of a soldier coming home from deployment different from how he left. It is the story of PTSD and how it affects not only the soldier but those who love him. It is also a story of people, strangers, coming together and pushing each other to find themselves again. The story of other retired military who have gone through what Noah is going through and helping others.

This is a heart breaking, heart warming, wonderful, eye-opening story. I am excited for more from the Warrior Fight Club. ( )

OMG! If this series is going to anything like or better than the first book, Laura needs to write FAST!!! Totally fascinating, edge of my seat reading, and emotional. Perfect combination!! The story of overcoming your worst fears and demons is outstanding! PTSD is something that most soldiers come home with, this is just a touch on how it affects the people that they love.

Laura Kaye is out of this world amazing!! This book is just ONE example of the writing that captures you and sucks you in.
