Deputy Marshal Angel Larson has been set up and accused of murder. On the run, desperate to stay one step ahead of the law and the real killer, she turns to a former protectee in a small town-the man who's haunted her dreams . . . and fantasies . . . ever since. Former DEA agent Colton Williamson misses the action of his past life since entering witness protection as a high school math teacher. He also misses Angel, who refused to join him in his new life. Now it's Angel who's in trouble, and Colton can't help but be there for her-before it's too late. But the killer may be closer to them than they think. Contains mature themes. Love Under Fire #2
Grabbed from the beginning by the horror that Angela sees when she wakes in the morning I could not stop reading till I finished the book. Angela and Colton are given a second chance at love when she heads to his WITSEC location to lay low for a while. Their chemistry is still present even after the months apart but whether or not they will find a way to a HEA with all they have to deal with is not easily or quickly determined.
I really enjoyed the back stories of both characters that gave insight into what made them tick. I also enjoyed reading about how they ended up in the professions they did and how they were both questioning just what they wanted to do in the future and how best to go about it.
This was intense and suspenseful with a mystery to solve, a murderer to deal with, a prototype to get back and a romance with a potential HEA to enjoy.
