When Galen's men capture Proteus, another Ouri like Kyrie, she's thrilled. He diagnoses her illness as the result of her never having mated, so Galen decides to keep him as long as he satisfies Kyrie and keeps her in health. But Proteus has his own mission to find a five-year-old girl who was left behind when the Ouri disappeared from Sirene.
This is a fairly good story and well-written. There are some twists though I thought there were some gaps in the plot and some devices that were just a little too convenient. There are some sexual scenes as Proteus initiates Kyrie in the Rites of Venus which are okay, but I would have liked to have seen more talking about the Ouri and their culture. I would have thought Kyrie would have more questions about her people. I'd give this three and a half stars. (
