It romanticized a very serious and hurtful issue in our society when it talked about how happy Axel was when he found a harmonica and he sat in the evening and played listening to the music reverberate off the highway bridges. It portrayed homelessness in a very unrealistic light such as Axel living in his van and how he had fixed it up so that it was so nice and cozy. The begging of the book was about how Axel was alone even among a throng of people, they never saw him as they hurried about their business. In truth many people fail to see the homeless around them. But then it glamorized homelessness again when a traffic jam happened and a little cats car overheated, Axel jumped to the rescue and fixed the car. The little cat was so grateful and impressed that she let Axel driver her car so they went careening off into the sunset. When they returned to Axels place he crashed the car into his broken down van where he lived and the little cat was all impressed with how cozy his place was saying how nice it was there.
