Some of us have a harder time finding a group where we feel at home and accepted. In this story, Ron has been bullied about his weight for years, and since his parents were part of the "you are a fatass" group, the pain is twice as bad. Then Ron finally finds the Heartland Bear Clan and with it a group of men who share his preferences for bigger men. They share the same interests, understand Ron's issues, and make him feel at home. Once he is elected club president he is on cloud nine, only to discover he has to work with Paddy s his vice president - a man who has hurt him deeply. All Ron's joy evaporates and many of his insecurities return.

What follows is a "forced" working together as Ron and Paddy develop plans for the club's future, and Ron find himself attracted to Paddy, he has to admit he likes Paddy and even finds himself attracted to him. I loved their gradual discoveries, Ron's doubts and progress included. Ron's self-esteem has a way to go, but with Paddy's help, at least it's moving in the right direction. A perfect Christmas story as far as I am concerned and very, very cute!
