All Kenn wanted was for his husband Chris to spend more time with him and their kids. But the ultimatum he came up with has totally backfired, and now he is stuck in a small apartment, working two jobs, lonely, and with no time for anything fun. He never expected Chris would call his bluff and let him go, and now he has no idea how to fix things. But he is at his breaking point, physically exhausted and emotionally brittle, so when Chris suggests spending Christmas morning together, at their house, Kenn’s resistance is low enough for him to agree.
Chris is still working too hard, thinking he has to provide for everyone, but he has also had some time to think. Seeing how hard Kenn has to work and the effect that has on the kids makes Chris think. He already has Kenn’s agreement for a joint holiday celebration, so when one more thing happens that seems to be a hint from Fate herself, Chris grabs the proverbial bull by the horns and sets things in motion to win back Kenn – permanently this time.
If you like drama and split-up couples who still love each other, if a holiday reunion that may be hard-won but is more than necessary for both main characters is your thing, and if you’re looking for a sweet feel-good read that begins with everyone depressed and leads to a wonderfully romantic and emotionally satisfying ending, then you will probably like this novella as much as I did. I loved everything about it.
