This is the third (and I think final) book in this series. I have enjoyed my time in the wilderness with Lily and Jonathan and their family. In this story they will leave the homestead near Fort Vancouver and seek a new home in the wilderness with another special family. It won't be easy finding a place and facing the challenges of the dangers from people, as well as from the elements. But these folks have what it takes to endure and make a new life for themselves. There is also another side story going on at the same time with their Indian friend, Samaritan which I enjoyed very much.

This was like reading a journal of the life of these folks. They shared the hardships and the joys and showed what life was really like for them. It takes a special kind of person to make it in the wilderness and I enjoyed getting to know and understand what the folks back then would have went through. A well done series, and time well spent reading about this family. ( )
