I see the potential as a read out loud book, but I wouldn't choose it myself. ( )

This is just about the perfect storytime book ! It has everything-rhyming text, sound effects, repetition and bold, colorful graphics. The story is funny, and offers lots of opportunity for storyteller interpretation. Kids will love shouting out the "toad on the road" part, and the "Skid, Screech, Bam". Great for toddlers to pre-schoolers. ( )

This was a book about a toad who is on the road. He causes a bear, croc, and vole to all crash because he was playing on the road. Each one of them told him, “what do you think your mama would say?” Well, at the end of the story the toad's mother saw the toad in the street, and said, “Hey, little love, get out the way! You could get hurt. That’s no place to play.” The toad moved. This author made this book because his mother used to jokingly tell him to play in the streets in New York. ( )
