The writing is choppy and ebbs between reading for an older group and reading for a younger group. Some of the paragraphs are a bit too long for a younger group of readers. It does have great details about the island of Oahu and Hawaii! I liked the story but some of the sentence structures were hard to follow. The story also goes from introducing the mice to talking about the island in good detail then back to the mice - the transition between the mice story and the information about the island was rough and hard to follow. The flow could have been better. ( )
