Rookie Joss O'Neill has worked hard to become a police officer and is determined to thrive in her chosen career. The only kink in her plan is her immediate supervisor, Lieutenant Maddox Hunt, who also just happens to be the man she had an incredible one-night stand with a year ago. Veteran cop Maddox Hunt is a "love 'em and leave 'em" kind of guy. Upfront and honest about not wanting a relationship, he struggles with his attraction to Joss. Why does he want to break all of his rules with her?

Joss and Maddox have an intense sexual and emotional bond right from the start. The honesty of their relationship and the fact that they do not keep secrets or play games is a highlight of their romance.

Both Joss and Maddox have well-developed backstories that contribute to understanding their approaches to the relationship. Maddox's history is particularly compelling and some of the revelations of his past are heartbreaking.

The only problematic aspect is the ease with which the conflict between Joss and Maddox's forbidden relationship is resolved. It is difficult to believe that there would be little to no repercussions either personally or professionally.

Despite this, Heartbreaker is a surprisingly delightful and relatively angst-free read. The next book focuses on Maddox's friend, and I look forward to him finding his match. ( )

I have read Stacey Kennedy books before, and I have always loved them! Her style of writing sucks you into the page and you all ways feel a part of the story; so when I heard all about Heartbreaker, I jumped at the chance to read it, and I'm so very glad I did.

After being dumped by her long term boyfriend, Joss O'Neil decided to grab the forbidden fruit and hook up with the smoking hot guy in the club, the night before she heads to the police Academy, and the only catch to this hook up? The smoking hot guy insists that it's will only ever be that one night!...but boy what a night!!

One year later, Joss is in her own personal heaven/hell, when her supervisor at Seattle police dept is none other than the hot guy from the club...aka Maddox Hunt; King of one night stands. But despite the one night stand rule, the sexual tension between Joss and Maddox is so thick, it almost explodes! So then enter into a friends with benefits relationship, that turns into so much more....until being friends is just not enough!

Wow! What a book! I'm still hot under collar! Seriously, I cannot even explain just how hot and delicious this book is. The relationship between Joss and Maddox is hot. The writing is delicious and the plot! It's the stuff of dreams!! You know, without the up and down relationship part. I'm dying to find out what happens to Grey though? Does he stay the serial dater? or does he finally find love? Goodness! I'm so addicted to this book.
