HTML: A tattooed dancer and a by-the-book detective dance with death in the ego-fueled halls of ballet. Bad boy of ballet Valentin 'Val' Aalto stands poised on the verge of huge successâ??except for one big obstacle. Influential lead dancer Harry Hardesty hates Val and cheats him out of the lead in Romeo and Juliet. When Hardesty winds up dead, Val looks like a prime suspectâ??and gets thrown under the detailed and methodical inspection of the handsome NY detective with the stick up his butt, Andrew Preston. At first, Preston believes Hardesty may be the victim of the chilling Dancer Killer who's struck three victims, but evidence stacks up against Val. Still, Andrew can't seem to keep his hands off his suspect and when the Dancer Killer starts stalking Val, Andrew is forced to choose between his dedication to a job he loves and his growing passion for his beautiful dancer. Together Val and Andrew discover that chaos can be beautiful, one should choose desserts wisely, and love can even trump death in the rehearsal halls of ballet No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

The blurb explains the plot, so I won’t rehash that. I like mysteries and this story worked for me. Usually, I can figure out who did it before the end of the story, but I didn’t in this one. Maybe it was because I was more interested in the characters and their relationship.
The author did a good job of creating distinct main characters and side characters. Each personality remained consistent throughout the story. My favorite part dealing with Andrew and Val, was this one which I’ll put behind a spoiler
Characters from the first book in the series made an appearance. But I don’t think you need to read the first book to read this one.
I found one part that could have used a correction to separate the povs. During the final climatic scene, there’s no separator or blank spaces between paragraphs to separate Val’s or Andrew’s pov. It switches from Val’s to Andrew’s and I was confused so ended up reading the scene over a few times to figure out who’s pov I was in. This, of course, took me out of the story during a very action-packed sequence. I’d suggest adding a separator. I don’t think it would halt the action; in fact, it would clarify it.
Overall, I enjoyed the characters and the mystery. I’d recommend this story to other readers. I give Death Dancer, 4 Stars.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest and unbiased opinion. (
