A beautiful Christmas story filled with loneliness, loss, love, hope and miracles. Barbara McMahon does a wonderful job of explaining a very sad situation in both main characters’ minds. What they are feeling for each other and themselves.

Caitlin is tired of being a lone all the time while her husband, Zach an international journalist, is never home during their 6-year marriage. She finally decides it’s time to move on, leave him and start over to find someone who will love her every night and start a family with her. So, she goes to her Aunt Sally’s house which was left to her after her death. When Zack can surprise Caitlin, and go home for Christmas, he finds their condo empty only a draft of what Caitlin plans on saying to leave him and end the marriage. He figures out where she would go and heads immediately to her. During the next few days, the two of them go over what life has been like, what it can be like and what will the future hold. Another fantastic book by Barbara McMahon. I also suggest you keep a box of tissues with you because the story is so true to life. ( )

A gift from the past helps to make sense of the present & the future. Caitlin is a teacher & loves children. After her aunt died, Caitlin has been obsessed with having children & wanting Zach to come home for good. They've been married for six years but spent less than two together.

Zach is an international reporter that loves his wife & his job. He flies home for Christmas to surprise Caitlyn but gets the surprise of his life. Not only is she not in the condo when he gets there, he finds drafts of conversations she's written trying to find away to tell him she wants a divorce. Is it too late to save their marriage?

Ms. McMahon has done an excellent job portraying both sides in this story. Both Caitlin & Zach are written as strong, loving people that either can't or haven't seen the others side. The plot is very realistic & relatable. This is a journey for both Zach & Caitlin as they discover what is most important to each other & work to find away to make those things happen for each other. Is it a divorce? A child? Moving? I loved this story & I recommend it to anyone looking for a touching, emotional romance. ( )
