Being born undead can have its disadvantages, such as eternal youth and flawless beauty-things most unsuitable for a witch. Hiding behind the guise of a grimy old crone, the witch is content living outside Fort Stalwart with her unlikely band of allies: a troll named Gwurm, an enchanted broom, and a demonic duck named Newt. She leads a simple life filled with spells, potions, and the occasional curse. So when a White Knight arrives at Fort Stalwart, the witch knows that her days of peace are at an end. The Knight is just days in front of a horde of ravenous goblings, and Fort Stalwart lies right in the horde's path. But the goblings are just the first wave of danger, and soon the witch and the Knight must combine forces on a perilous quest to stop a mad sorcerer from destroying the world.… (más)

Usuario anónimo: A Nameless Witch reads a lot like Terry Pratchett novels. Try the Wee Free Men / Tiffany Aching books (more for children, but enjoyed by adults) or try any of his Discworld series that involve the witches (targeted for adults). The books have the same attitude toward what it really takes to be "witchy."…

This was an easy, fun read with some real truths tucked away in the corners. The characters were unique and well fleshed out. The Nameless Witch with her curse of immortality was an amazing person who was just the opposite of what people expected in a witch. I loved her wise cracking familiar Newt. The tongue in cheek comedy kept the story light and made it an enjoyable story right up to the very end. This was not a m/m romance and while there was a hope at romance between the witch and Wyst, the story was more about following your own reality. There was a HEA of sorts in my opinion. This was a good book to kickoff the Halloween reading season. ( )

I really enjoyed this whimsical adventure that was reminiscent of The Princess Bride. I adored the quirky characters and enjoyed the plot. My only complaint was that it felt a little rushed; so much packed in for such a short story. It did feel a touch repetitive when mentioning her lust/cannibalism and her need to always hide her beauty. I also felt it could have had a 'happy ending' for the star crossed lovers without it feeling cheesy.
As for the nameless witch, I was feeling either Serena or Willow...

But in the end, I still loved the journey. ( )

This book has all the ingredients to be a book I will love. It's wildly imaginative You got a demon duck, a ogre who mixes and matches parts like Mr. Potato Man, a broom with O.C.D., and a white knight. Did I say the book has a demon duck named Newt? He's bent on bloodshed and destruction and his favorite food is duck.

The book stars the nameless witch. She picks up the aforementioned characters along the way to do her vengeance quest.

But so many times while reading the book (maybe like the impatient Demon Duck), I wondered how much longer we had to go and that's why I have to give the book only three stars.

@25% I'm wondering why I am still reading it. I'm starting to day dream about what it would be like to never read another book again. I know I could have lived without having read this book. Is this COVID/Earth/Cheetoh stresses or am I moving away from reading? *sigh*

The book is too tame. It has dark characters: an undead cursed witch, a demon stuck in a duck serving as a familiar, wolves that eat dead humans, a troll serving as backup to a robber etc... It's a pick up group, they are all friends and now they seem to be adding a "sweet as pie" prostitute. *yawn*

It says this in the desc: "Filled with menace, monsters, and magic, A Nameless Witch is a properly witchly read ... " I'm not into tame, funny stories. I was here for the undead cursed witch and her demon duck getting some revenge, you know the "menace, monsters, and magic" but the author tricked me. He just changed the name & "occupations" to dark things but they aren't actually dark characters.

The audio narrator is doing a fine job but she is also too sweet sounding. She sounds like Georgia Engel (RIP) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq1CelntHpY ( )

It goes without saying that I couldn't have done this without her. I'm saying it anway.
