This was a good read. There were a lot of great parts, a few even made me teary-eyed.

The whole book is from Ox's point of view and he's really sweet, even though his thoughts were meandering at times. He had a lot of growth throughout the story, especially after the halfway point. The side characters were fun and the friendships were really good.

I didn't really get the chemistry between Ox and Joe. Mostly because Joe was a kid during half of the book and then he left for 3 years, so he felt kind of flat to me. Plus, I'm not into the idea of a 10 year old deciding who he's going to "mate for life". I like stories about people growing up together and falling in love, but Wolfsong didn't feel like that to me.

All in all, I liked this book and I would like to read more in the series, especially with some of the side characters being the focus. ( )

I guess it is a nice found family story but sad to say it was not for me. The story revolves around Ox who is a big guy but as his father said, a bit dumb. He gets to meet the Bennet family who now lives at the house at the end of Ox’s lane. It’s not TJ Klune’s best that’s for sure. I did not like the repetitive writing. I did not like how long it was. This needs to be edited. I love “In The Lives of Puppets” and when I mean love, I LOVEEEEEEED IT but this was not it for me.

Thank you Netgalley and Tor Books for the ARC copy. ( )

Lovely. It starts out warm and fuzzy, and then it becomes an emotional rollercoaster that doesn't really let up until the end.
Perhaps there are other books I've given 5 stars to that are better books, but T.J. Klune sure does know how to write emotions. And I love the emotions that he picks. Yes, these are werewolves, but there's no dominance bullshit. There's no condescension. There's no arrogance.
There is support. There is love. And yes, also pain. But mostly there is acceptance and praise and trust. Even when it has to be rewon. ( )

This is an exciting and heartwarming tale that follows the story of a young guy named Ox. The story explores the themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and love, all while taking you on a thrilling adventure.

One of the most impressive aspects of "Wolfsong” is the way in which Klune captures the emotions and experiences of his characters. The novel is filled with heartwarming moments that will make readers laugh, cry, and cheer along with the characters. Klune also does an excellent job of exploring the complexities of identity and the struggles that come with discovering who you are.

Another standout feature of "Wolfsong” is the world-building. Klune creates a rich and vibrant world filled with unique creatures, traditions, and cultures. The wolf aspect is detailed and well thought out, with each pack having its own unique customs and beliefs. The world-building adds depth to the story and helps to immerse the reader in the world of the story.

Overall, "Wolfsong” is a captivating and engaging read that is sure to leave a lasting impression on its readers. Klune's excellent writing, relatable characters, and vivid world-building make this book a must-read for fans of the paranormal romance and urban fantasy genres. ( )

I should start by saying I accidentally read the second book in this series, Ravensong, before realising at the very end that it was part of a series and had to come back and read book one. I was kicking myself for the first 100 pages of this book because I knew the twist that everything was alluding to but when what I knew from Ravensong was revealed, I really started to enjoy the mystery.

I adore the cover. If you zoom in you can see the artistic components which are even better in real life. It looks like a model was made using different materials and photographed rather than your standard book cover image.

Wolfsong, in a nutshell, is about being perceived as odd and finding your people with who you will thrive. This quote from Wolfsong sums up how I feel about this particular book and books in general:
"...the incredible buried in the ordinary."

At 554 pages, this was a marathon of a book to read and I did find it dragging towards the end but I don't think it could have been much shorter. It was not 554 pages of nothing There was so much story, deep insights and character development. The whole series, in fact, has a central storyline which is explored through different characters. I love this approach as peripheral characters are always the primary characters of their own story and I really enjoy exploring the same event from different perspectives.

This novel is dramatic, romantic and in some points (page 157 in particular) completely hilarious. If you love the mysterious and the magical mixed with depth and emotion, you will thoroughly enjoy Wolfsong. ( )

“Mom! Mom. You have to smell him! It’s like… like… I don’t even know what it’s like! I was walking in the woods to scope out our territory so I could be like Dad and then it was like… whoa. And then he was all standing there and he didn’t see me at first because I’m getting so good at hunting. I was all like rawr and grr but then I smelled it again and it was him and it was all kaboom! I don’t even know! I don’t even know! You gotta smell him and then tell me why it’s all candy canes and pinecones and epic and awesome.
