In the future, mankind has learned to manipulate their DNA, harnessing only the good genes, like intelligence, strength, and height. They called this prime DNA and humans rushed to get these new pDNA injections, which gave them superhuman-like qualities. Centuries later, however, their DNA became so engineered that humans rarely lived past the age of thirty, thanks to a new deadly disease called the Kiss. The only cure is to receive an injection of oDNA, DNA from an Original human that hasn't been genetically altered. Problem is there aren't many Originals left. When seventeen-year-old Sage wakes up in a hospital with no memories, her only clue are the words "Run Now" written on her hand. Trusting her instincts, Sage barely escapes but only to collide with an outside world that would kill to get their hands on her. With the help of unlikely allies, including a boy with hidden bat wings, Sage makes the dangerous trek to Eden, the last place for people like her and the only place she'll be safe from those at the Institute who would use her blood until she died. But with deadly Primes hot on their trail, Sage must make the ultimate sacrifice to save the people she's grown to love.… (más)

Really loved this take on a dystopian world. It was, however, shockingly terrifying! I'm definitely going to be giving the rest of the series a go, and would recommend you do as well, if you're a fan of dystopia and are looking for something new and fresh! ( )

Didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first, as I felt there was a lack of world-building, but I was still completely engaged with the characters and in the narrative. The pace of these first two installments so far has been phenomenal. Not a dull moment!

I'd still recommend giving this one a go. ( )

🎧 REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK 🎧
Since im spending most my hours at work binge listening to audiobooks, I feel like I should mention whether it is audio or hardcopy I will be reviewing, I do think that the ratings will be a lot different to if they are read or listened to... especially since listening does depend a lot on the readers voice.

So Escape to Eden was a reccommended book from audible and included in my plan. I had no expectations at all.

Firstly as a person who is knees deep into certain 'conspiracy' theories and a firm believer of a one world government plan (yeah, yeah sigh and roll them eyes as much as you like. I cant see it.) This book was right up there in my happy place.
Rachel McClellan either enjoys conspiracy of agenda 21 and the NWO as much as the next fanatic, or she did a bloody good job of accidentally adding the key elements to the conspiracy theories to the story. (im not gonna explain it, if you are interested go do some digging in the rabbit hole of agenda 21 and sustainability)
Add to this, the inclusion of humans altering DNA using injections and we have the RNA jabs of the SCAMdemic... sorry.... I mean...PLANdemic....oops....PANdemic..... in which the people who have been unaltered are now rare and wanted for their original DNA to help cure those who are.... tampered with.

So our female protagonist (nope I cant remember her name... I finished this book a while ago) has a very one track mind.... get her brother and take him to the safety of a place called Eden where other 'originals' are kept safe in secret on an island that nobody dares to go to.

My first thought was that this was gonna be a weak female, two love rivals, all live happily ever after kind of story. I was greatly surprised when this wasnt the case, with the main focus being on rescuing her brother and getting to Eden there was very little romance in the story and no tedious love triangles.

A fun read and a good start to the trilogy of which I have now completed and really enjoyed....mostly. ( )
