A thrilling new standalone novel from New York Times best-selling author Skye Warren. Dark. Powerful. Dangerous. Philip Murphy has all of Chicago under his thumb. Except me. We met in a perfect storm of violence and lust. He saved me and then disappeared from my life. Now I pretend I never knew that kind of darkness. I focus on midterms and campus parties, as if they can wipe the slate clean. Then he turns up outside my dorm room - wounded and barely conscious. He's the head of a criminal empire, a powerful man, but he needs me now. There are traitors in his midst. I can help him, but I can't fall for him. Not again. Author's Note: Deep is a dark contemporary romance novel that can be read as a standalone! It's set in the Chicago underground world, and you are invited to listen to those books once you read Philip's story.… (más)

This is the first book I have read by Skye Warren, but I have always been tempted, especially with the Chicago Underground series' blurbs. This book can be read as a standalone, and I did myself, so I can confirm that you will still love and understand it fully, though you will find yourself questioning how you stayed away so long and what you are going to do with your newfound Skye Warren addiction.

This book was brilliant. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous, steaming hot, full of angst brilliance. I really enjoyed every page of it, and found it beyond hard to put down. Once I finished, I rushed off to grab the rest of the series because I needed more.

The characters are created so extraordinarily well. Each one is given the detail and personality needed to really being both themselves and this story to life. It was a very grounded, real read and needed characters that were able to be just that. Each was believable and true, so that you were able to connect with them and grow to love of hate them.

The mains were brilliant. They really brought the story together and created just the spark that was needed to really make this book one that I couldn't put down. They were made for each other, even if they didn't want it or didn't know it. From the beginning you could feel the tension and attraction rising between them and wanted to see it happen.

I loved the pace of the book, as it really matched the storyline. It gave way to passion and tense action moments, where we were able to have that pushed by adrenaline feeling. I liked that and though it really added to the attractiveness of the read.

Overall, I thought this was excellent. As mentioned, I have now gone on to grab more from this author and will continue to do so. I recommend giving the series a go, this book in particular.

**I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. ( )
