Southern Pleasure by Kaylee Ryan Evan Chamberlin's girlfriend of a year discovers she's pregnant and let's him know before terminating the pregnancy. He convinces her to carry the baby and then sign papers to give all rights to him as the father. She agrees and then holds her place as the unfeeling witch when she shows no emotion, interest, or care during pregnancy or after giving birth. She stated from the beginning that she would not make a good mother and didn't want to ever be a mother. She agreed to carry the baby because Evan is such a good man. He enlists the help of his best friend's little sister, whom he also considers a very close friend, to help him get everything in order before the baby comes. Their friendship becomes something more emotionally, but neither one admits it to the other, although all of their family members see exactly what is happening and approve wholeheartedly. This is a nice romance that borders on too sweet because the characters are a bit too perfect, even the H's ex-girlfriend is portrayed as the perfect villain. The author's way of getting her out of the picture was too easy. I was unimpressed by how these loving (although somewhat judgmental) people showed no concern whatsoever when they learned what happened to her. It was just a blip in the road. The romance growing from lifelong friendship was very sweet, the H was an example of a perfect boyfriend and father, and the author did a great job in portraying their difficulty in keeping a lid on their chemistry, but some of the plot devices were too black and white. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"They tell you that a parent's love is all consuming. I never put much thought into it. Not until the minute I heard her take her first breath. That little girl is my world. I'd do anything to protect her. My ex signed over her rights and her family vowed that my daughter didn't exist. Now that she's gone, they want my little girl. They're trying to say I can't give her what she needs. I've known Evan all my life. Our families farms run parallel with each other. He and my brother Aaron have been best friends for as long as I can remember. What they're trying to do is wrong. He needs my help, someone he can trust and I'm more than happy to do it. I volunteered without hesitation. I should have thought about what it would be like to have our lives intertwined. I should have thought about what would happen when our time together ended and how my heart would feel when I had to walk away"--Page 4 of cover. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This book brought out all the feels. I love the banter back and forth between all of the characters; they are like one big happy family. There are major twists and turns that I certainly didn’t expect and it just made it all the more better!! I want to give this SIX solid stars!!
