Fantasy What amazed me about this book was not the writing itself but MT Anderon's versatility. I mean, between this and [book: Feed] and [book: Thirsty], not to mention that Octavian Nothing book (which I haven't read yet), I'm really impressed. I knew he could do sophisticated, it's great to see he can do crazy silly, too. And I agree with other reviewers that Lemony Snicket fans might enjoy this. It's funny and unusual. This is a funny and amusing story about a shy girl named Lily who goes to work with her father and suspects that they are a secret evil organization that wants to take over the world. With the help of her friends, who are anything but average, she helps save the world from the destruction of whales on stilts who are being controlled by her father's half whale/half human boss. She finds that after saving the word from whales, she is pretty cool and adventurous herself. This is a science fiction novel that has a sketch and ink type illustrations and would be best used for grades 5-8. 2010, January 23 Oh, I'm loving this. I'm trying to force the Offspring into loving it, too, by reading passages aloud, but no one else is hooked. Funniest concept since Howie Monroe and the Doghouse of Doom. *** If the Spouse wrote a parody of children's series books, it would be this book. I recommend it to adults who'll laugh at jokes about the British invasion and David Bowie's eyes. *** Now I'm reading it aloud to the KitKatPandaBatWolf. I love this little book.
