This is the first volume that I just didn't fancy that much. One sign of my displeasure was that it took me a month to finish it instead of a day or two. And, it has taken me a bloody long time to write it too.

It started off with Harley and her gang trying to stop Popeye, eh I mean some sailor that had mutated into a monster that ate weird green seaweed and it made him crazy and very strong. I'm sorry that story just didn't work for me and I just didn't like the idea of Harley with a gang of Harley copies being vigilantes. So, I was glad when the group disbanded.

it gets a bit better after the mutated seaman is taken down with Harley going to Hollywood and getting into trouble. And, towards the end of the volume Catwoman and Ivy show up for a girl road-trip and that part was the best part in the whole volume. At least that was a bit funny and fun to read.

So, it gets three stars, because the art is still very good and there are some bright moments and I do like reading about Harley Quinn very much. I just hope that the next volume will be better...

I want to thank DC Comics for providing me with a free copy through Edelweiss for an honest review. ( )

This story arc collection has Harley recruiting a gang to fight crime as a cross between vigilantes and private eyes. After losing half her gang for reasons I will not explain and with the new business venture being in debt she takes a job to rescue a girl from a cult in California that falls in her lap thanks to her day job at the retirement home and being friends with Sy. The job pays off in the end even though it doesn’t work out like Harley thought it would. There is a one shot story at the end with a girl’s road trip consisting of Harley, Ivy and Selena.

I really like these and I wonder if they will end this version with the new DC reboot coming up.

Harley is back with more adventures throughout Coney Island and beyond. In the first part of this volume, we pick up where we previously left off with Harley assembling a "gang" to help her fight crime. Of course, nothing goes as anticipated but things more or less end up alright for Harley as they always do. This section was mostly ridiculous, but in a fun way. There's also the almost obligatory scene now where Harley trips for a bit and has unusual dreams featuring Batman, Joker, and Poison Ivy.

The second part concerns a case picked up by Harley's old pal Cy regarding a staff member at the nursing home who claims her daughter has been kidnapped by a cult out in Hollywood. With her gang still recovering from their first big adventure, Harley goes at this one alone ... that is, until her plans are interrupted when Deadshot shows up on the scene. This part was the weakest of the volume, with an unnecessarily convoluted plot that didn't resolve itself super well, and the Deadshot cameo just added to that sense of mishmashed storytelling.

The third and final section of the book involves a road trip when Harley learns her recently deceased uncle willed her an RV and a request to bury his ashes back East. She ropes Poison Ivy and Catwoman into joining her out in California to bring the RV back home. Unbeknownst to Harley, Catwoman has a scheme of her own up her sleeve that threatens to derail their fun girls' trip. The plotting for this section is thin, but the comradeship between the three anti-heroes more than makes up for it. And we get another surprise hallucination from not only Harley but Ivy as well.

All in all, this is quick read that doesn't take itself seriously at all. In jokes and meta references will definitely make you chuckle throughout the book. ( )

Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti spoof DC's We Are Robin in Harley Quinn, Vol. 4: A Call to Arms. In this volume, Harley forms her own team, Harley and the Quinns, and sets about fighting crime as a vigilante group. She quickly runs afoul of New York's mayor, who wants her latest beau for the accidental murder of his son. Conner and Palmiotti showcase everything they've brought to the series, making Harley Quinn one of DC's most dynamic books. ( )

I'm liking these Harley Quinn TPBs more and more each time. This one was full of a ton of different stuff. Harley's... well... Harleys are in full swing trying to help as many people as they can (for a fee if those people can). There's a guy with some super green seaweed that they go up against too, and more than one cross country trip.

She also runs into Deadshot, which was hilarious and cool.

The Mom and Daughter thing was funny as well.

And then there was the Ivy, Selina, and Harley's road trip that gave us a look into Harley's childhood a little, which was awesome.

I thought it was an all around really good TPB, and I definitely enjoyed it (shh... maybe even a little more than Deadpool).

I got this galley through Netgalley on behalf of DC Entertainment. ( )
