Jasmyn just made captain of her summer basketball league and is as happy as can be. That all changes when all of a sudden she finds out that her mom has to go to war. Jas freaks out not knowing who is going to take care of her and her brother Andrew. Once she finds out it's Jake, her mother's boyfriend, she really isn't happy. She ends up getting demoted to sharing a co-captain position since she can't make every game. And the entire time her mother is gone she has to help with her little brother. ( )

This book by Alice Mead was an okay book. In this book Jasmyn's William had to try to get along with her mother's selfish boyfriend. A tragic thing happens, all of sudden jasmyn's mom has to deploy and go to the Persian Gulf War. After a couple of days her mother is gone. Jasmyn has to live with her mother's biyfriend for a while till her mother comes back. Not only is her mother having a horrible time, so is her. A lot of the things in this book i can relate to since my dad is in the military, but he is in the air force not army do he doesn't have to deploy has much (thankfully).
