3.5 stars, rounding up... Very enjoyable, quick read. Sweet, nostalgic. Not much sleuthing for the reader, but some clues for chewing on. Will definitely read the next one! ( )

Francesca has moved back to her childhood home after the death of her mother. Now she is running the family coffee shop. When she found an elderly neighbour dead, poisoned with a cup of coffee, she becomes a suspect. The dead man's son is an old friend and knows better. Together they investigate. This is the first in a fun cozy mystery series that leaves room for a possible romance to develop. I look forward to reading more. ( )

This was a quick read, loved the characters and mystery. The recipes in the back were a cute surprise. Totally going to be baking some cupcakes. I do wish the romance would have progressed faster or fully? But I had to remind myself this is a mystery not a romance! ( )

This cozy, first in the Cape Bay Cafe mystery series, was such a delight! I love the coastal New England setting, and the micro-setting of Francesca's cafe is so inviting and appealing! I enjoy Francesca's emotional depth, which isn't something I find in every cozy, and she's navigating big life events with grace. She’s my kind of girl: a passionate fan of the best lobster roll in town, quiet times at the beach, and finding a furry companion for her new lifestyle. I also enjoy Francesca's enthusiasm for coffee (and her thoughtful artistic touches on each cappuccino).

I decided to read this because it was a Cozy Mystery Corner and as an added bonus was available today on Amazon for free.
It was a fast and fun read, I read it this afternoon in a few hours, it's only novella length what the book lacks in length and the strength mystery plot, it makes up for in extremely likeable characters.
