Danny Chaucer is an eleven year old boy who lives in a small town. His best friend moved to Scotland so he is very lonely and bullied at school. Natalie (Nat) a new girl is also friendless and bullied. They strike up an accidental friendship that is sure to last in future books in this series.

Danny and Nat stumble upon a flying saucer that has "escaped" from the Ganymede Institute. His Uncle Colin was one of the scientists that developed it. The Army has discovered it and wants to use it as a weapon. The Flying Saucer, "BOB" has other ideas. It takes Nat and Danny, along with Captain Frost on a flight to outer space. They also have a Virtual Reality experience. They love the stars and finding out about the planets. When BOB starts to run out of energy they must return to earth. BOB is able to wipe Captain Frost's memory as well as assist Nat and Danny to frighten the bullies. There is a lot to learn about stars in the book and some attempt to build self-esteem from the bullies. BOB flies off at the end of the book, but I am sure he will return for future adventures. This is a cute beginning reader chapter book.
