Well, this one was a quick read. I acquired this from my late Uncle's vast collection of books. The book is divided into two parts Theory (first half) and Practice (the second half). The theory part was what I was looking for in a book called Satire: Theory & Practice as it presented several essays and excerpts from various authors current and ancient where concerning the discussion of satire. The second half, my least favorite part of the book, was simply a collection of pieces of satire including several excerpts from larger works. Both sections, however, shared the same flaw: they felt fragmented, especially where there were a lot of smaller excerpts presented together.
The most I can say about the book, which I believe is a textbook, is that it is a quick and easy read especially since I have already read most of what was in the last half of the book either in school or personally. There was not that much there concerning the major questions I have about satire at all although as a primer this might have been useful. If you can pick this up for around a buck or two then I would recommend this otherwise not so much. ( )
