Enjoyable little read full of everything I love about the Emerald Isle. Romance, mystery, and magic. ( )

This novel was a interesting blend of fantasy, romance, with a little bit of suspense. Even though Keelin, the narrator, is in her late twenties the novel feels like a coming-of-age story. It reminds readers that no matter what age you may be that we are always trying to find ourselves and figure out who we are and what makes us happy.

The scenery of Ireland in this book was so magnificently detailed and I felt if I was standing among the hills looking over the water and cove. I thought the fantasy aspect if this novel is interesting. Keelin, her mom, and grandma all have these amazing, mystical healing powers in order to help other in need. While these powers were supernatural, they felt a bit more subtle than other fantasy novels. I also appreciated that though Keelin and her love interest, Flynn have an instant attraction right off the bat, and fall for each other fast. It felt genuine and the romance was steamy in some parts too. ( )

This is the first I've read in this series and I enjoyed most of the storyline. Full of surprises for our main character Keelin, but I found so many things I just couldn't understand in the character of her mother. That said, I definitely am interested in reading more of the series. I loved the feel of the small Irish village in the book, and the "Mystic Cove" of the title was very unusual in its character. Yes, I said character, because there is no other way to properly express the behaviour of the cove. There are many secrets in the village, secrets that Keelin has no knowledge of. I thought the author Tricia O'Malley included some fascinating differences from others of the genre in handling the extreme learning curves Keelin goes through. I think the story is a unique take on the theme of the abilities she has never been unaware of. Very quick action on the part of sexual attraction, but the Cove has some influence there, too. ( )

This was a nice light read for a Friday night/Saturday morning. It's nothing emotionally gripping or anything, but I did enjoy it. I may try to continue the series. ( )
