Barbara Cooney wrote and illustrated this book about the nativity birth. Very visually stimulating while bring the reader along for the journey following the star. Peaceful read anyone would appreciate the artwork.

The text in this is lovely and full of inventive language. The illustrations are beautiful. On the one hand, this serves as a lesson about Christmas and animals that hibernate. On the other, the combination of text/illustrations seems to suggest that a group of hibernating North American forest animals saw the star and followed it (across the ocean?) to the deserts of Bethlehem. It defies all logic, really, and takes away something from the book. It's nice enough if you don't think about it too much, but I prefer books kids can think about. ( )
