Eagle Boy fits the genre of traditional lit as well as a picture book. It is the story of a boy who loves eagles (traditionally this story would use a Raven as the bird; using the eagle is what makes it specific to the Northwest) but his Tribe does not trust eagles because they are known as tricksters. The boy is left on the beach when his tribe leaves to find food "let your friends the eagles feed you" they say as the canoes leave. Then the eagles so in fact feed him and although he is alone, he is taken care of. Eventually Eagle Boy learns that his tribe needs help because they are starving. At first Eagle Boy does not want to help them because they left him on the beach but in the end he does the right thing and he turns into an eagle and feeds his people just as the eagles fed him by dropping "hundred of silvery fish" from the sky. Finally his tribe returns and Eagle Boy is honored with a great feast.
