Paddy Buckley is an undertaker and consequently the novel is filled with some really fascinating stories about what really goes on behind the scenes at funeral homes. Vincent, the leader of Dublin's mafia is a fascinating character. The scenes involving him were some of the most compelling. But the one problem I had with this novel was the whole idea of Paddy first falling for a grieving 60 year old widow Lucy. And then after she dies in "the act", and her 30 year old daughter Brigid arrives on the scene, he promptly falls madly in love with her, and they go at it like bunny rabbits. C'mon, really ?
