Baby Bear has never had pizza before (what??), but once he tries it, it's the only thing he wants to eat.

This is a book about a young bear trying pizza for the first time. He is a little skeptical at first but is reassured by his parents. Once he tries the pizza he absolutely loves the taste. That is all the little bear can think about. He has a dream that aliens from other planets bring him all different kinds of pizza. The next morning when it is time for breakfast Mama and Papa bear ask what the baby bear wants and now all he wants is pizza. This is a fiction book. A moral that I perceived from the book was, trying new things can be scary but in the end you may very well love what it is you tried. ( )

Baby Bear has never had pizza before, so he's a bit wary when his parents take him to a pizza parlor for the first time.

I thought this book was a great exploration in introducing children to trying something new. Many children are reluctant to eat new foods, so they can relate to Baby Bear's hesitation. However, most kids LOVE pizza, so hopefully Baby Bear's experience will encourage them to try new food items as well.

The last part of the book where Baby Bear goes on and on about how much he loves pizza now and wants it for every meal gets a bit tediously repetitive, but overall this is a solid read for preschoolers and lower elementary school-age children.

The illustrations are very basic and cartoon-ish, but they fit this simple story pretty well. ( )

Cute story ... make placemats as 'activity' or paper plate pizza. ( )
