Going into “The Life and Death of Sophie Stark”, I wasn’t sure what to expect other than knowing it was about a girl who was like me in the way she used film to understand the world around her, but this novel delivered much more than that. “The Life and Death of Sophie Stark” is a character driven story that pulls you in from the start. After the first chapter, I knew I would fall in love with Sophie and her story and I wasn’t wrong. Sophie is the kind of character you become so deeply interested in, you’re tempted to Google her name as if she is a real person. Anna North weaves Sophie’s complex characterization all through the eyes of others. She manages to bring you into the world of characters you only just been introduced to with remarkable ease and it’s such a refreshing experience. If you’re like me and you’re moved by stories that use their characters to drive the plot, you’ll love “The Life and Death of Sophie Stark” as much as I did. Sophie Stark was a beautifully written character that you’re sure to remember long after you’ve finished this moving tale. An enjoyable book - not fantastic but fun to read. I absolutely hated the character of Sophie Stark and I was lukewarm about some of the other voices in the narrative. However, I really liked the way Anna North structured the books to highlight different times and events of Sophie's life, all from the perspective of people in Sophie's life. All in all, a good read. I really liked what I read, it just didn't feel complete to me. I wanted more of Sophie as a character, to know her a little better, or to at least see her in action just a few more times. I was left wondering why the other characters loved her so intensely. It occurs to me that it was perhaps the point that we never know enough about Sophie; even so I didn't find it particularly satisfying. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
An unapologetic filmmaker uses the stories of those around her to create movies that bring her both critical acclaim and ire from the people whose secrets she has exposed. By the author of America Pacifica. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
