This was a fun hands-on activity that worked to teach teens how to create their own spa products from the cost-effective spaces of their home rather than having to spend serious money in order to pamper themselves. The presenter did a good job at being personable to the group, without coming across as overly nice and fake, which is a particular strength when dealing with teenagers. The library was also nice enough to provide basic supplies for the demonstrations so that all present could follow along and participate in the activity. One of the best resources was a handout that suggested local stores to purchase ingredients from and various attributes to look for when buying different components. It was also nice that some of the teenagers who came were personally interested and experienced in these sorts of crafts and were given the freedom to share their expertise with the class, rather than having the presenter constantly talk over everyone. This made the event feel more personable and homey, and made me want to go to more events held by my local library. Would recommend to other teenagers who may be interested in future events, regardless of topic. Classes restricted to grade 6 through 12. ( )
