What I liked is that Nate is a flawed guy. He would just assume not take responsibility for any the well being of the others with him in the shelter, but find himself having to do so. He is very relatable.
What I didn't like is that this novella doesn't tell enough of these story for it to be interesting. I felt like this did not work as a standalone piece of literature. It covered the attack, selling safety in the shelter, the naming of a leader and some minor squabbles, and little else of significance. Also, the other characters felt a little stereotypical and uninteresting. I didn't care much for any of them other than Nate. ( )
