Ellie Jordan's job is to catch and remove unwanted ghosts. Part detective, part paranormal exterminator, Ellie operates out of Savannah, Georgia, the most haunted city in the United States. When a family contacts her to deal with a disturbing presence in the old mansion they've recently purchased, Ellie first believes it to be a typical, by-the-book specter, a residual haunting by a restless spirit. Instead, she finds herself confronting an evil that is older and more powerful than she'd ever expected. The dangerous entity seems particularly interested in her clients' ten-year-old daughter. Soon her own life is in danger, and Ellie must find a way to exorcise the darkness of the house before it can kill her, her clients, or their frightened young child.… (más)

I enjoyed this book, but it took me quite a while to read because I can't read it late at night. My mind tends to go on with whatever I'm reading in my dreams and this was not a book I wanted to dream about. I like Ellie and the other characters well enough to give book 2 a try. ( )

I got this as a freebie and thought it might be fun. I was not disappointed.

This has sort of a ghostbusters vibe to it, with nastier ghosts. I was wondering where the story would go when they caught the ghost they were after halfway through, but I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events. It wasn't a frightening read, but it would make one heck of a scary movie! I loved the Georgia setting, the desperate homeowners who were being haunted (although I did want to exorcise Dale a time or two), and Ellie's sidekicks. Worth the time, and I will likely be picking up another of these books! ( )

The idea of a Ghost Trapper really caught my attention, but sadly the book didn't live up to my hopes for several reasons. Firstly, it's more science than urban fantasy - Ghosts are supernatural but the methods of ghost trapping are very scientific and the whole novel just approached the issue of ghosts in a way too clinical way for my liking.

Then there was the author's style of writing itself, which had several flaws. Namely, a male writing from a female perspective and constantly making comments about carbs, diets and so forth. Maybe in some circles women ACTUALLY act like that, but in my experience even women dieting don't tend to think like that. Again, too clinical. I'm honestly surprised he didn't list the exact calories per meal. My other quibble is that I got massive of details about the house, what it looked like; in nice glorious architectural detail. But the characters? I know the protagonist had dark hair and 'wasn't that tall' and her companion was a blonde barbie doll that was attempting not to be a stereotype, but failed miserably.

Will I keep reading? The story got better as it went on, so if the second books pops up as a freebie on amazon kindle as this one did, then sure I'll check it out. It has some promise, but overall the characters were tacky, unlike-able and the plot extremely obvious. ( )

Not your typical ghost hunter story. Ellie Jordan, along with some coworkers, helps homeowners with some really nasty ghosts. Although Ellie has a great sense of humor, this is not really a light read.

I liked it.

Have already bought book #2 in the series ( )

This is an excellent ghost hunting book! Much better than ghost hunters. Lots of exciting stuff goes on, great characters, and great plot! I was hooked right away! Nothing like listening to a haunted ghost tale at night!
The narration was spot on! Great job! On to buy book 2! ( )
