A recent BBC poll in Russia reveal that this is the most popular religious program ever heard on those stations. It would be impossible to count the number of church members whose interest was first awakened by in AWR broadcast. All this has not come about through human effort alone. It is taken 25 years of miracles for AWR to grow from one station broadcasting 12 hours per week in 10 languages to its current schedule of more than 1000 hours of programming per week in 40 languages. Alan Steele, with his wife, Andrea, began AWR's first broadcast in 1971. Today, they lead out in AWR's worldwide programming and public relations.
