I think this is a brilliant multicultural book for all elementary school students. However, there are a couple of things that could be improved upon. For example. the print on every page is very small and hard to read. There is an appropriate amount of text on each page and enough room to make the text larger without altering the illustrations. The illustrations are very detailed and the food and everything from the Rabbi’s vest to the food on the plates looks realistic. The language is very descriptive and clearly explains the most significant Jewish holidays and what people eat to celebrate each holiday. The big idea of this story is to introduce Jewish culture to young children and to introduce new foods for them to taste. A majority of the foods in this book are unique to Jewish culture, so students of all cultures will be interested in learning more about these foods and may want to try them someday. This story can help make Jewish students feel included during their holidays at school, since most students in American schools usually celebrate Christmas instead. The rabbi is a friendly character who seems to be warm, welcoming, and inclusive. This is the type of fictional character that students will connect with and want to know personally. The book has a lot of great text features. There are several recipes at the end of the story for holiday-specific foods. Each recipe is below the name of a Jewish holiday followed by the significance of the holiday. There is a glossary on the last page of the book with Hebrew words, their pronunciations, and their English definitions. This is necessary for students who do not know much about Judaism. My family is Jewish, so I really enjoyed reading a book that was inclusive of Jewish people and their holidays. This book accurately described many important foods and traditions, so even though it is a fictional story, most of the pages are factual. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
