Detective Jordan Delaney is trying very hard to prove to everyone she’s perfectly capable of running an undercover operation and then she promptly falls into bed with a suspect. Tyler McGee is trying really hard to get hired by the drug guy, so he can prove drug guy is bad, bad news, but he immediately fixates on the blonde with the big tits who he keeps telling she shouldn’t be working for the bad man. For her own good, you know. But she just won’t listen to his superior intellect! Okay, Khan. And he wonders disparagingly why do women order big meals and then a diet pop? Gee, I don’t know you sexist piece of shit. Maybe they like fizzy drinks, but don’t want to raise their blood sugar 50 pts for every 4 oz? You know how I know that? My husband is diabetic. So fuck off, you judgmental asshole.

Jordan has nightmares about people who have died. That’s the best thing about this story. The characters in this book are shit. Absolute shit. Too bad this awesome idea is attached to these fuckwad characters. Jordan thinks with her dripping, clenching pussy. She just can’t say no and mean it. Some professional cop she is. Tyler is constantly in her personal space with kisses and gropes and shoving his cock in her even when she says no. Oh, she backtracks and tries to convince the reader that she really wanted his attention, but no does not mean yes do me over my wimpy protests. Then he breaks into her apartment and acts all pissed off when she cuffs him. I’m done. I hate them both and I hope the drug lord discovers them, tortures them, and stakes them out for wild animals to eat.

Oh, and that nightmare she’s been having? I figured out who the girl was right off the bat. Lame. ( )

I really enjoyed how this book starts out in a redneck, backwoods run-down bar that has more customers than waitress available, back room drug deals, a VIP room for special treatment with an owner who will take care of anyone who messes with him or his business.

Jordan has a few issues. She states to herself that she does not have any problems but has tried pills, alcohol and therapy to overcome the dreams she has. She does not see these dreams as a gift, to her they are something worse than death.

Ty is your average all around good guy. Just one of those guys trying to help fight the war on drugs. He gives Jordan several different reasons but never the truth.

My favorite quote from the book is by Jordan.

Ice cream could smooth the jagged edges off any guilt. And there would be no calories in the ice cream, because she wouldn’t read the label. If she didn’t know about the calories, they wouldn’t exist any more than the visions did.

Book totally ended different than I thought. The author really thru this reader for a loop. A very good read and I highly recommend for any who enjoys contemporary romance.

The bunnies and I give this book carrots.

This was a really good romantic suspense that was a bit slow to start for me, but picked up speed as the story progressed. Once I understood the storyline, I was curious how the dreams would play into the plot – and although I guessed at the tie in pretty early on, I wasn't disappointed how the story played out.

Jordan was all shades of messed up because of her dreams, well actually one specific dream – the one where she saw her family get murdered…and then watched it come true. She definitely has trust issues and doesn't see how she can ever let love in to her life – especially since everyone that she has loved has been taken from her and she can’t imagine anyone dealing with her dreams and not thinking she’s crazy. When she meets Tyler McGee she can’t understand the pull she has towards him, and finds herself having a very difficult time keeping her distance…which is a problem since she is on an undercover operation and can’t afford to be involved with someone who could be related to the case she is investigating. And when Tyler comes to her rescue, she can’t help but give in…and then immediately regret her decision.

"She couldn't fault him for slipping out while she slept. If he’d been smart, he’d have left a long time before that, when she’d passed out behind Buck’s or when he got stuck in the ER half the night. But he hadn't. He even stayed after she snarled at him when he mentioned her parents.
And then there was the kiss. Good God, what had she been thinking?
It was pretty obvious she hadn't been thinking at all. How could she be so stupid? Head injury or not, her behavior was inexcusable. Any cop who worked undercover knew exactly how dangerous screw-ups could be. She’d screwed up big time last night."

Tyler McGee….*sigh*…Ty, you sexy man, you! You could feel the sexy come off the page whenever Ty was around! Once he sets his sights on Jordan, he is relentless and doesn't let her push him away. He’s got his own demons he’s carrying around, and his own reasons for wanting in on the investigation that Jordan is running. That being said, he knows that what he feels for Jordan isn't something he can’t just ignore. And once he realizes that Jordan is an undercover cop and not just a cocktail waitress at the bar she is working undercover at, he is eager to form a partnership with her…something he works very hard to make her agree to, in more ways than one!

There was a lot of action and suspense which kept me turning the pages, and Jordan and Tyler could definitely steam up the pages. Jordan was a bit frustrating at times, but I certainly got the fact that she had no experience dealing with the emotions she was trying to work through. All in all, a really good read!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. ( )

Dream Huntress is the first in a new series by Michelle Sharp and it kept me riveted every step of the way. With tons of action, plenty of suspense, danger, drama, twists, turns, just enough romance, and even a touch of paranormal goodness, it had everything I was looking for in a book to get me out of the reading funk I was in.

Jordan and Tyler meet under interesting circumstances. Both working separate sides of a narcotics case unbeknownst to each other, they enter into their introduction steeped in lies. After Ty rescues Jordan from an incident at her new place of employment, they realize instantly that they have chemistry that can't be denied, but unfortunately, their relationship could prove dangerous, in more ways than one. Their interaction was fast and furious, and weirdly, despite the rapid pace with which it progressed, it somehow still felt natural to me (one of my huge pet peeves at times with paranormal romance and some romantic suspense is how unnaturally quick the couples fall into bed and love). Maybe it had to do with the edge of the seat drama and action that went along with everything they went through!? Who knows. Regardless, I felt that these two were meant for one another despite the craziness, and I enjoyed every step of their growing attraction!

Dream Huntress is a Romantic Suspense, but as mentioned, there is a hint of a paranormal storyline. It's only hinted at, however, and only serves to make 'how' Jordan does things slightly more credible and reinforce the reasons for her and Ty being brought together. I actually would have enjoyed more details about her gift - it definitely wasn't the primary focus of the plot and only popped up randomly - but it was still very enjoyable and I think it added something a little extra to an already fabulous story and (I'm hoping) will be expanded upon and used in more detail in future installments of the series.

Bottom line: Dream Huntress was a thrilling, action packed and engaging read that I absolutely didn't want to put down. It pulled me out of a pretty bad reading funk, and in times like that, for me - a steadfast bibliophile - that's not always easy to do. It was both comfortable AND unique, and I would honestly recommend it to just about any type of reader. I have a tendency to read more UF and Horror followed by PNR and then RS and then Contemp, etc, but this book was surprising and utterly entertaining from beginning to end. It was a really, really good romantic suspense with a super engaging plot, lots of action, great characters, and an ending that will leave you a little speechless. :) ( )
