I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review I adored this book. There's a new sheriff...er..constable in Wardham. Single dad Paul Reynolds moved to Wardham to find a simple life and raise his daughter in a quiet town. His life is about to get a lot more complicated when he meets his next door neighbor Karen Miller. She's a hometown girl looking for a little adventure. Can they find a way to co-exist happily? I highly recommend this book!! Well the second book in the Wardham series held up to all my expectations after reading the first. You meet Karen some in book one, but just get a little taste of her whole character, and that little taste just doesn't tell you well enough about who she really is. Well after reading this, I can safely say that Karen is one of my favorite female characters! She is mouthy when she needs to be, funny when it's called for and very sweet and supportive when the time is right. She is just the kind of person I want to hang out with, the fact that she's super hooked on books too has nothing to do with that either!! ;) I did have a little harder time liking Paul at first. I don't know what it was... maybe how he pushed Karen away, pulled her back and pushed again. Don't get me wrong he was super sweet and there were certain moments when he could melt my heart, but I just wish he hadn't been so, well, wishy washy. He did always come through when he was needed the most though, so I definitely give his character props for that. Half way through the book I realized that he had won me over. I am very excited/anxious to see where Ms York goes next with this series and hope the wait won't be too terribly long! I DEFINITELY recommend reading! When the girl next door meets the man of her dreams, at exactly the wrong time. Karen's finally decided what she wants to do when she grows up. (So what if she's thirty-four? Better late than never). Too bad it'll mean leaving behind her new neighbor, who's stirred up a different kind of grown up feelings. But when he rebuffs her attempt to have a fling before she leaves Wardham, Karen knows it's for the best. Intense and private, Paul has recently moved to Wardham for a more family friendly job, leaving behind a career as a homicide detective in the city. He only has his ten year old daughter a few nights a week, and he doesn't want any distractions or drama while he tries to repair their relationship. But Karen is right next door, and everywhere he goes. His resolve to keep his distance only lasts until she needs a true friend in her corner, and he realizes he can't imagine life without her.
