This is a fantastic book for the wannabe baseball coach and even more fantastic book for the experienced baseball coach. The book has several drills that will help a newcomer coach look like he knows what he is doing. The drills focus on groups as a opposed to single players.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This seems like a good entry level instruction to baseball for younger kids. It should be recommended for little league teams around the nation. I only wish it had offered age range suggestions so coaches could easily pinpoint appropriate drills for specific ages.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Great Book. Solid drills throughout that touch on every aspect of the game. The drills are largely not limited to youth baseball as most translate to good baseball on every level. I'd love to see a girl's softball version of this book that would focus on some skills unique to the girl's game. Highly Recommended!Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. A solid introduction to the game for young players. Or more accurately, for coaches of young players. Which is to say that the book is not geared for an individual, say a kid working with a parent, but for large groups. The drills (and there are many, dealing with all aspects of the game--hitting, running, fielding, throwing, sliding, pitching, and more) are all designed to work well with full rosters. Each drill is illustrated, though in some cases no more than perfunctorily. To be fair, not all of the activities lend themselves to detailed storyboard-style pictures, but some sections would have benefitted from additional images.sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Coaches know the importance of drills. The cornerstone of most practices, they are essential in developing player skills and team execution. For younger players, however, the best drills go one step further. They engage the player, promote teamwork, and establish a lifelong love of the game. Youth Baseball Drills is a comprehensive collection of more than 100 of the very best team drills for young players and their coaches. Developed specifically for players aged 6 to 18, the drills teach and reinforce fundamental skills such as these: * Hitting * Bunting * Fielding * Catching fly balls * Throwing * Pitching * Base running Easy to understand and easier to implement, each drill is accompanied by step-by-step instructions, equipment needs, field diagrams, and key coaching points. And the ready-to-use 30-, 60-, and 90-minute practice plans help coaches put them to use and create enjoyable and productive practices. With variations and progressions for difficulty, Youth Baseball Drills has something for every coach and every player. It is a must-have guide for anyone wanting to teach youngsters how to play, and enjoy, the game of baseball. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
