Horrendo lives on an island that is raided every year by pirates who take all the 12 year-olds to be rigging and cabin boys. He is also cursed by the old woman in that he cannot say anything horrible to anyone - he is always polite and deferring. H thinks he will be able to outwit the pirates because he is an excellent swimmer and can hold his breath for 2 minutes underwater. However, when the pirates do come, circumstances force him to give up hiding and be captured. The only thing working in H's favour is a box of special herbs that she has told H to put a tiny bit in every meal he cooks for the pirates. The result of this is, of course that the pirates love his cooking, get fat and lazy and incur the wrath of the evil pirate captain. What will H do when he is forced to walk the plank. A rather silly yet enjoyable fantasy romp about being nice and making friends. Suitable for younger readers.

No one, living or dead, was ever more polite than Horrendo. In all his eleven years he'd never said a rude word to anyone. But was his mother proud of her charming son? Not at all! For Horrendo lived in a cruel world where kind words were as rare as dragons' teeth, and pirates stole away twelve-year-old boys from under their mothers' noses... A rollicking adventure on the high seas, bursting with fierce fights, foul food and bad behaviour. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
