Ten-year-old Jason Fitzpatrick was doing what he loved best, watching the bald eagles as they flew and dove into the water after the fish that were so plentiful near his home on Long Island Sound. Jason had been fascinated with bald eagles ever since he was little. When he was five, he had built a pair of wings and tried to fly out his bedroom window. He got caught in the branch of the old oak tree outside his window. His parents had to rescue him and had since forbidden him from trying this ever again. He had obeyed them, but he had not stopped observing the bald eagles. He felt a connection to them that he had a hard time explaining.
