Creepy and complex. One of those brilliant stories where the people are monstrous and the monsters are just people, unless they are monsters. The series is one part small town detective serial and two parts supernatural "end of the world as we know it" and we don't know why panic and chaos. The characters, for the most part, are well developed and the author keeps the mystery of the series running with out being overly cryptic. The art style is detailed and gorgeous, which can make for some beautiful, if graphic, death and crime scenes. I look forward to reading the next volume. ( )
