Summary:This book is about three goats who are trying to cross a bride but a mean troll lives underneath. The first two each find a way into tricking the troll so that they can cross. Finally the big goat stands up to the troll and they all make it to the other side.
Personal reaction: It is a cute story. I think children would enjoy the goats talking as though they were humans.
Classroom extentions: I think this book would great to use in a lesson about bullying and how to handle a situation when it occurs beside fighting. This could also be used for somewhat older children in a drama class. They could divide into groups of four and act out there version of the story.

There are three billy-goats that want to cross a bridge, but there is a troll who lives under the bridge. The troll wants to eat them for lunch. One by one the billy- goats trick the troll into letting them cross the bridge.

I remember reading this story when I was a child; in fact I had it memorized. There is just something about reading a silly story!

I would let the students get into groups and write down a different version of the story. After their new version is complete I would let them act it out.

This book is about three billy goats who all have the same name of Gruff. They are traveling to the hillside to eat and get fat. Their journey takes them across a bridge where a troll lives. They must all pass the troll without being eaten in order to get to the other side.

I love goats. I think this book is an attention keeper for the younger children because it has the element of surprise.

I would use this book for a lesson on bullying. I would also have the class discuss alternate ways to fighting in order to solve social problems with their classmates.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a traditional fantasy book that tells the story of three billy-goats trying to cross a bridge to get to the hillside to fatten up. When each billy-goat tried to cross the bridge a mean old troll would tell them that he was going to gobble them up. The billy-goat would then talk the troll into waiting on the next billy-goat. I wonder what happen when the third billy-goat tried to cross the bridge.

I can remember my Mom and Dad reading this story to me when I was little, and I just loved it. I love when books last over generations and generations. My favorite of the billy-goats is the third Billy Goat Gruff!

Even though we know there are no trolls, mountain goats are still very real. This would be a good way to demonstrate how goats use their horns to protect themselves. It could be used during an animal section or lesson.
