My first book by this author, but it won't be the last. Faith Clancy decided to set up her new psychiatry practice in Santa Fe, but her first (and only) patient shortly confesses to being the serial killer 'The Saint'. Faith isn't confident that the confession is real, but legally she must contact the police. Patient's brother, Luke Jericho, is handsome, rich and convinced that his brother is just confused.

And off they go trying to determine who the killer is.

Yes, there is romance, and some sexy scenes, but what I liked most was this story was primarily about the investigation and suspense.

A good solid four stars for this one, with intriguing plot twists. ( )

Psychological mind-bender best describes this latest suspense from Carey Baldwin. This time around we are in the world of Psychology. The definition sums up the plot of this book – the study of mental functions and behaviors.

Faith Clancy has moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a fresh start. She was the sister of the dead wife of the hero in First Do No Evil. She just opened her psychiatrist office and only has one patient so far. She thought she knew the diagnosis of her patient but when he confesses to the murders of the Santa Fe Saint she realizes she may have been wrong and turns him in. But she cant help feeling that he wrongly confessed and tries her best to make sure he gets the help he needs to get him out of the predicament he put himself in as the police want to pin everything on him and make it and open and shut case.

Luke Jericho is the patient’s half brother. He is a very rich man with a healthy ego and a bit eccentric. But he has a strong sense of family and will do anything to help prove his brother is innocent and get him out of jail. He’s also used to getting everything he wants and he’s wanted Faith since he first saw her. After his brother is arrested he and Faith work together to try and do what they can to prove he didn’t do the killings.

The killer gets a lot of page time throughout the book and even ends up as a patient of Faith’s for a very ironic reason. There are plenty of twist and turns through the book. The author does a great job of letting you think you know all about the killer, since we get his point of view, but she full of perceptions.

We also get to meet an FBI profiler and a psychologist who specializes in false confessions who absolutely hate each other but turns out they are the main characters in the next book Labyrinth which means our minds are going to be messed with more from this author (grins). I am really looking forward to their story.

It took me a couple of chapters to get into this, but then I couldn't stop. Good writing, interesting story line and characters though the ending was predictable from early on. This was my first book by this author, but I will definitely read more of hers. ( )

Confession is a graphic and spine-chilling psychological thriller with a subtle romantic suspense twist that will keep the reader sitting on the edge of their seats.

Author Carey Baldwin utilizes her professional background to weave a complex, intense, and gripping psychological tale that easily holds the reader's attention with its multi-layered, compelling, richly detailed descriptions, and surprising twists and turns that takes the reader on one hell of a thrilling roller coaster ride.

Faith Clancy has moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a fresh start. She has just opened a psychiatrist office and only has one new patient. Faith thinks she knows the diagnosis of her patient, but when he confesses to be the serial killer, the Santa Fe Saint, she realizes the diagnosis may have been wrong and turns him in. Even though she was bound by law to turn her patient in, she can't help but feel that he wrongfully confessed, and she tries to give him the help he needs ... but is he who he really says he is ... and has he really committed all those brutal serial killings?

Luke Jericho is the patient’s half brother. He is a rich man who has a strong sense of family and will do anything to help prove his brother is innocent and get him out of jail. He is also used to getting what he wants, and he has wanted Faith since he first met her. After his brother is arrested, Luke and Faith work together to prove that his brother is not the Santa Fe Saint.

Confession has the right amount of suspense, mystery and intrigue that keeps the reader turning the pages, while interweaving the perfect amount of a subtle passionate romance that doesn’t take away from the thrilling storyline. The author sends the reader on a riveting journey as an amateur sleuth following Faith and Luke as they work to unravel the mystery of the Santa Fe Saint's true identity. This is one exhausting whodunit that throws the reader for a loop as they try to figure everything out with a wicked evil twist at the end that the reader will never coming.

Confession is a fast-paced psychological thriller that is a guaranteed must read!

Confession by Carey Baldwin is a 2014 Witness Impulse publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Faith's patient confesses he is the serial killer the police are searching for. It is her duty to report this to the police and Dante is arrested immediately.
Dante is the half brother of the wealthy and popular Luke Jericho. She had met Luke prior to his brother's arrest and the two had a connection, but it would have been unethical of her to pursue it. But, when Dante is arrested Luke insist on a meeting with Faith. Luke is positive his half brother did not commit these crimes. Luke has been trying to reconnet with Dante and bring him back into the family after Dante was sent away as boy due to an awkward family situation. Luke feels bad for resenting Dante all those years ago and wants to make ammends. So, Faith agrees to visit with Dante again to see if she can determine if the confession was authentic or not. In the mean time, Faith and Luke get better aquainted. They also begin to realize they are in danger from the "The Saint", whoever that may be. Is it Dante or is it someone else associated with Faith?
Confession is a very good psychological thriller/ romantic suspense novel. I was riveted by the half way point. The author does an incredible job of putting the reader through the ringer. There are many suspects and elements that lead the reader to wonder who they can or can not trust. There is a stunning shocker in the end of course, that you will not see coming. I think I accused every person in the novel except the neighbor kid at one point or another. The story is the main focus, although there is romance, it's not the primary part of the story. The most impressive thing for me was how the plot was pieced together. Little tidbits of information will have you thinking hard about certain characters and strange developments will really keep you guessing and trying to determine if you can figure it out. If you like very taut suspenseful thrillers you don't want to miss this one. Carey Baldwin is one to keep your eye on! Overall this is gets an A or 4.5 stars. ( )
