Something is wrong at the heart of the tiny fishing village of Naviras, a place where Ellie often sought refuge as the rest of her life was collapsing; during the silent and invisible end of her marriage as her husband's political power grew. Ellie fell in love with the village and the people who lived in it. Now she's back to remember and relive her time there, recalling the secrets which sprang up within its narrow streets and at Casa Amanha, the home of a weather forecaster where her love for two men begins and ends. Ellie has returned to Naviras just as a conspiracy to destabilise the Middle East is erupting. The village is the first and last place she ought to be, but Naviras has saved its biggest and deadliest secret for last. Weeks in Naviras is a speculative and political novel published in 2014.Editorial Reviews "It stays with you after you finish reading. A unique and engaging plot that is both thoughtful and evocative. It is an enjoyable read overall and is definitely recommended." The Future Fire Reviews, March 2014 "I don't want to give anything away, but put it this way, it will knock your socks off. The twists are so unexpected, so genius. Excellent, excellent book. Highly recommended. Definitely different, definitely eclectic." Eclectic Bookworm, April 2014"The background and setting of the story was amazing in itself and I really wish Naviras really existed. This book made me think, instead of just doing the thinking for me and throwing theories out all over the pages." Bookish Love, March 2014… (más)

This book was not quite what I expected from the description. I still enjoyed it; the characters were good and the plot was interesting. I would just warn anyone looking to read it to expect something a little out of the ordinary. ( )

This book was very very enjoyable. Wimpress has a way of making his characters seem vibrant and realistic. His descriptive paragraphs are simply amazing, and the story is stunning.

That being said much as is usual with many Kindle books there are often formatting, errors within the text. A font and style that translate well into a print text do not always translate well to .mobi formatting.

That however was the only thing wrong with this book, other than that it was amazing. ( )

I honestly don't know what to say. Is the book a political thriller, science fiction, love story, a study of life? Or is it none of these? I do know it was hard to get into at the beginning but was worth sticking it out. It got to the point where I was up at night reading because I just had to know what was going on because there were so many twists and turns. At first, I did find the sudden chapter changes confusing but once I got used to it, the book flowed. In the end, I found that I did enjoy the book and the way it was written. It had enough surprises and cliff hangers to keep my interest and all I know is that I really wish I could go visit Naviras. I still can't figure out what category best fits this novel since it seems to be a blend of quite a few but I do know that sometimes I like a novel that makes you think and is out of the ordinary. The most important thing for me is that I became lost in the book and felt as if I knew the main character. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and I am glad I was chosen. ( )

I received this ebook free from LibraryThing.com in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are all mine.

This book started out bizarre and only got more and more bizarre. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I did not find it to be a page turner like so many of the other reviewers, but I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened. There were twists and turns, and sometimes I knew what was going to happen and sometimes the author surprised me.
It was a good read, it kept me interested enough to finish.
The concept was a good one, and the writing was strong. Sadly, with the exception of Lottie, the characters were not particularly likeable. I wanted to know what happened to the characters, but really didn't care if it was going to be positive or negative. I don't normally feel that way about a book, so I rate this one "bizarre." ( )

Weeks in Naviras

Possible Spoiler alert!!

I'd like to start by saying I was given this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

So honestly I did not read the synopses or any reviews before starting this book. I solely chose this book by the cover art. I got a couple chapters in and still really had no clue what it was about but I was intrigued to go on. I thought originally that it was a romance novel, well was I wrong. It was so much more! I loved the story and how this science fiction part could be so well disguised. Normally I do not go for the sci-fi novels because I have a hard time wrapping my mind around a lot of the concepts, but this was different and very interesting to read. I liked how the first part took place in a kind of after life/if you could call it that(that's what I thought) then I started thinking about half way in that maybe they aren't even dead. Well I don't want to say too much, but what a great read this was.

In the end I really did enjoy this book even tho it took me awhile to figure out what was really happening. I also am not really into books on politics but again it was so well written I had no problem sticking with it and it was not boring!

I would and probably will be recommending this book to others. ( )
